As we learn of the verdict in the George Floyd case, our thoughts are with his family and friends. This past year was not only challenging fighting a pandemic, but the pain and devastation was and continues to be exacerbated by the injustices in our country.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS — OCS CALENDAR UPDATED

North Carolina required all school districts to include 5 “Remote Learning Days” included in the 2020–2021 school calendar. Since the majority of our students have learned remotely since the beginning of the school year, we have met this requirement and made adjustments to the two days previously designated as remote.


As a follow-up to the January 11th OCS Board Meeting and in response to some questions from staff and families, Board Chair Hillary MacKenzie, Vice Chair Brenda Stephens, and Superintendent Dr. Monique Felder developed the following summary to provide additional clarity based on the approved motion made at the January 11th meeting regarding a delay to the return to Plan B (in-person instruction) for some students.
